From Bud to Blossom...

One of my favorite quotes is by the 20th century writer, Anais Nin.  “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”  I’ve always loved it because I think it speaks of being “stuck”, whether in a bad job, a bad marriage, a bad body (in my case), and while getting out of that situation is SCARY, it’s definitely SCARIER to stay in that bad place.

When I started looking at this surgery six months ago, I had to do some really painful soul searching.  First, I had to admit that not only was my size a problem, but that it was something that actually bothered me and that I wanted to change.  Change is scary.  I’ve always said that only babies and parking meters like change. (Although today, parking meters take credit cards! At least the ones in Raleigh.)  And although we tend to get comfortable with the day-to-day, sometimes we just have to push ourselves forward. I am tired of being “tight in a bud”—it’s time for me to blossom.  I just think that it’s ironic that I’m “blossoming” by getting smaller! (But trust me, I’ll take it!)

  2. Everytime I read one of your posts I just want to take the pain away for you, but I realize that sometimes in order to accomplish something great you must first struggle. Not to get all religious on you but I truly believe the Lord never puts more on us than we can bear! Your definitely a strong woman and you can and will make it through these trying times....and I'll be right here beside you praying and cheering you on the entire way! Love ya!
